The disappearance of two children in 1980 is what makes detectives Wayne Hays (Mahershala Ali) - a Vietnam veteran characterized by his great ability to trace footprints on earth after several days - and Roland West ( Stephen Dorff), another ex-combatant of few words. A characteristic of the 2015 Hays is the degree of dementia that suffers, which, at times, makes it stagger with respect to the time line in which it is. From this, the assembly makes a magnificent use to link the different times through dialogue between them. The narrative, then, takes characteristics of the character.
